Libraries have always fascinated me because they contain so many ideas in such a relatively small space. A person could spend several lifetimes learning, pondering, laughing, and sometimes crying at the panoply of human experiences represented on library shelves. Public libraries make this bounty of information freely available to all who take time to explore.

 

I came to Jamestown in June 2012 and immediately fell in love with the beautiful, historic Alfred Dickey Public Library. Prior to becoming Library Director, I taught English and history to creative, questioning, and occasionally sleepy teenagers who found the sound of my voice discussing Hawthorne and Chaucer incredibly relaxing.

 

My educational background includes undergraduate degrees in English, history, and religion. I earned my Master’s in Library and Information Studies from the University of Oklahoma in 2014.

 

I worked in a college library during my undergraduate years and served as a school media specialist before coming to James River Valley Library System. The best part of my job is connecting library users to information, experiences, and other people who will enrich their lives.

 

When I’m not working, I enjoy travel, sports, collecting baseball cards, and being a father to my son. Oh, yes . . . and of course, I love books! Since everyone wants book recommendations from librarians, you should check out the Matthew Shardlake series by C. J. Sansom.
